Daily Design Inspiration – Pictory Mag
This site is just simply amazing. The main photo on the front page really gives it amazing depth and character with a hint of nostalgia thrown in. The general layout really is clean and sparse but it feels like a really rich website it just makes me want keep clicking.

Daily Design Inspiration – Kamal Chaneman
Im much more drawn to designing minimal kind of layouts and although this design still has a minimal feel the concept is pretty bold. I like the way the page is framed here – The velvet of the curtains is really very beautiful and helps to soften and strengthen – while the grid layout for the folio below tends to pull everything into place.

Daily Design Inspiration – Webbyran
I love the way that this site pulls together. The footer is really beautiful and I love the depth achieved with the monitor, coffe cup and pot plant up on top of the shelf. Their work looks great too …

I like the treatment on this page especially the header area and the way that it contrasts against the slightly cleaner main content area. There is some nice attention to detail here that really helps to give this site some depth.

Daily Design Inspiration – Silnt
Im a massive fan of grid layouts (like everyone else at the moment it seems). I am attracted to the horizontal and vertical alignments and the sense of order they purvey, especially if there is a lot of space in between the columns and blocks.

Daily Design Inspiration – Snook
I love everything about this redesign from Jonathon Snook. Its such a well balanced minimal web design that doesn’t feel empty or underdeveloped like some other minimal sites do. The subtle background texture and the elegant fixed positioning of the logo really make this stand out as one of my favourite designs for 2009.

Rolling out Snaphots over at Joomla Bamboo
I just posted a short post on the Joomla Bamboo blog notifying our members of the change to our release packages. The gist of it is that we will be replacing the quickstart packages with JB Snapshots. The snapshots are a much more fluid and less time consuming (in terms of maintenance) way of developing our templates in packages ready for uses to jump start their Joomla site development.

Wordpress Theme Clubs and Shops
Since Ive been focussing on Joomla template design and development Ive had my head in the sand so to speak in regards to Wordpress clubs and theme shops. Of course there are some big names that most people will probably already know about – such as woothemes. But I was surprised to find that there are probably the same number of clubs catering to the wordpress platform as there are for Joomla. In my mind, Jooma has always been renowned for the diversity in its commercial template offerings while wordpress for the sheer number of professional free wordpress themes available.

Daily Design Inspiration – Blue Pixel
I love the detail that these guys have put into the guitar on the front page here. The cutline design is also very strong and really adds weight to and separates the top and bottom areas of the page respectively. Im not a huge fan of the logo or the shade of blue used at the top but I still think its a very strong design.
